White River Guided Trout Trips

The White River offers a much larger fishing experience than the Little Red. Its trout water stretches from Bull Shoals Dam to Guion, near Mountain View. Anglers can expect clear water, tall bluffs, strong flows, and long boat rides through the Ozarks.

The White is known for both the number and quality of its trout. It is a great choice for full-day trips and for anglers who want to fish several days in a row. Most trips offer plenty of chances to catch both quality and quantity.

A Specialty White River Trip

Many skilled guides work on the White River. They offer great bait-fishing and fly-fishing trips and do an excellent job helping guests catch fish.

Sore Lip’Em All offers a different kind of trip. We fish with the Trout Magnet and D2 Jig on ultralight spinning tackle. To our knowledge, we are the only White River guide service devoted fully to these conservation minded methods.

This does not mean one style of fishing is better than another. It simply gives anglers a chance to experience this famous river using the techniques at the heart of Sore Lip’Em All and Trout Magnet.

How We Fish the White

The White River’s size and changing flows give us many ways to fish. We may drift Trout Magnets through long runs and current seams or work D2 Jigs through shoals and banks holding big brown trout.

We will help you control depth, manage the drift, spot strikes, and adjust your jig weight and presentation as conditions change. The goal is to help you catch trout while teaching you a method you can use again on your own.

Most trout caught on these trips are released. We use small artificial jigs, land fish as quickly as we can, keep handling brief, and return them to the water with care. Guests may keep a few legal trout for a meal, but we encourage responsible harvest and respect for the fishery.

Choosing the Right Section

The upper White near Bull Shoals holds many quality trout, but it can also receive heavy fishing pressure. We often prefer this section during January, February, and March, when crowds may be lighter and conditions can be well suited for larger fish.

During other parts of the year, the middle and lower sections can offer great fishing with more room to spread out. We choose where to launch based on water flow, fishing pressure, the season, and what you hope to accomplish.

A Full-Day River Experience

Because of the White River’s size, these trips are usually best suited for a full day. They are also a strong choice for anglers planning several days of fishing and wanting to explore different sections of the river.

White River trips are limited to two anglers per boat. Water levels can change during the day, wind can create rough water, and popular sections may have heavy boat traffic. Limiting the boat to two anglers provides more room to cast, improves safety, and allows David to give each guest more personal instruction.

Our 21-foot jet boats are stable, roomy, and built to handle the White River’s heavier flows. We provide premium ultralight rods and reels, Trout Magnets, D2 Jigs, and all other tackle. Water, snacks, and a simple lunch are included on full-day trips.

Each angler is responsible for obtaining the required Arkansas fishing license and trout permit.

The White River can be busy, especially in its popular upper sections. It can also offer beautiful scenery, clear water, plenty of good trout, and a rare chance to fish this famous river using only the Trout Magnet and D2 Jig.
