What began as a way to demonstrate a fishing lure became something much more meaningful. Sore Lip’Em All became the place where people took a product out of the package and turned it into an experience on the water. As the guide service grew into an operation of its own, Lowell Myers took the lead. For more than 16 years, Lowell ran the Guide Service. Under Lowell’s leadership, Sore Lip’Em All did more than continue—it thrived. He hosted thousands of anglers, welcomed returning customers, built lasting friendships, and established much of the reputation the guide service carries today.
Today, the story continues with David Taylor. David has been a part of the Sore Lip’Em All family since 2015 and is grateful for the opportunity to build on the foundation established by Jeff and strengthened through Lowell’s years of leadership. Sore Lip’Em All remains the Official Guide Service of Trout Magnet. The fishing is centered on active, light-tackle presentations with the Trout Magnet Brand. For more than 25 years, Sore Lip’Em All has brought together the product, the river, and the people fishing it. David is helping continue that story—honoring what came before while serving the anglers who will become part of its next chapter.
Meet David:
I grew up in Columbia, Tennessee, fishing with my dad and two older brothers, but trout fishing became a true passion after I moved to Arkansas for college and met Jeff Smith, owner of Leland’s Lures. Jeff helped drastically speed up my learning curve on the Little Red River, even teaching me how to run one of his boats in 2014. My time at Harding University was foundational to who I am today, and it gave me the freedom to spend nearly every spare moment learning the Little Red.
In 2017, I graduated from Harding with a degree in math and Bible, then spent five years teaching ninth-grade algebra in Cabot before returning to the river full time. I have been guiding on the Little Red since 2015, first part time while I was in college and teaching, then full time beginning in 2022. My teaching background still shapes the way I guide: patient, clear, encouraging, and focused on helping people understand what they are doing and enjoy the day.
In 2020, I married my beautiful bride, Haley, who is my biggest supporter. We live in Searcy and love this community, along with our church family at Highway Church of Christ.
For me, it’s the people and the puzzle that make each day on the river a blast. I love building relationships with people from all different walks of life, making memories on the water, and figuring out the generation schedules, wild browns, and eager rainbow trout that call the Little Red home. While the Little Red is still my home water and the river I know best, I have also enjoyed taking clients to the White and Norfork rivers when conditions are favorable.
Along with guiding / managing Sore Lip Em All Guide Service, I split my time working with Leland’s Lures, makers of the Trout Magnet, on product development, educational articles and videos, and managing social media. The same products I help develop are products I use on the water, so guiding gives me the chance to test them in real conditions, see what works, and help catch anything that needs to be improved.
Whether the goal is catching a first trout, learning a specific technique, targeting bigger fish, or simply enjoying a day on the water, my aim is to provide an honest, family-friendly, and personalized guide trip for every guest in the boat.
